COME HUNT EIDERS, OLDSQUAWS AND SCOTERS ON THE BEAUTIFUL COAST OF MAINE |
Come hunt the picturesque Maine Coast where Eiders, Oldsquaws and Scoters winter in amazing numbers. With a limit of seven birds per day a selective drake shooting is practiced to ensure population growth. The duck hunting style at Penobscot Bay Outfitters is set up with the trophy hunter in mind. We will be set up to hunt at the opening of legal shooting time to sunrise. This will give us the chance at seeing the morning flights of Sea Ducks and Puddle Ducks. After the morning sea duck hunt we often go right to Puddle Duck hunting if the hunters would like to hunt for Black Ducks, Goldeneyes, or some of the other diving ducks Maine has to offer. |

We hunt from the Seaworthy 17 and 21 foot TDB duck boats. Hunting and traveling in one boat eliminates dangerous ocean transfers or transfers to slippery ledges and rocks. With these boots we don’t have to worry about the rise and fall of the tide like ledge hunting outfitters do. Our boat rides to the hunting areas are only about 5 to 10 minutes not an hour or two like others. These boats allow for easy pickup of the decoys to move to another area if for some reason an area does not produce. This and liberal duck limits will make this a waterfowling experience like no other. Our boats are kept in top shape with new motors, radios, GPS and safety equipment. |
We strongly suggest 12 or 10 gauge shotguns with 3", 3 1/2" or 2 3/4" chambers with modified chokes (no full chokes). Shotguns must be plugged to hold no more than three shells, ammunition must be nontoxic shot in either #3, #2 or #1 shot. A cleaning kit is also recommended due to the salt water exposure. |

Due to the Maine weather, bring along warm clothing in olive drab or brown camo, wet weather gear and warm gloves are a must. Hip boots or chestwaders are also suggested along with a camera for those memorable photos. |
